Eau Claire High School, located in Columbia, SC, is seeking to fill the position of Band Director for the 2024-2025 school year. Eau Claire High School's No Half Steppin' Band is a traditional style band, utilizing the high stepping marching technique, and modeling it's style after several well-known HBCU marching bands. The school is a part of Richland Country School District One, and is a Title 1 school. In recent years, the band has been extremely active in the community with parades, fundraisers, and other events, in addition to competitions and concert performances. For the third year in a row, the band has been invited as the featured performer at the South Carolina College and Career Ready Rally at the SC State House, performing for the Governor of SC and the State Superintendent of Education. The No Half Steppin' Band has also been invited to play in the National Independence Day Parade in Washington DC in July 2025; one of only two bands invited from SC. In addition to parades and marching competitions, the band has been active with participation in SCBDA events, including CPA and Region / Allstate auditions, and district level band events such as District Honor Band, district CPA, and the district Jazz Festival. There is a very active and supportive alumni association who love and support operations of the band program. This is a 220 contract day position, and also comes with an additional supplement as well. In addition to two concert band classes and a credited after school marching band class in the fall semester, the course load will likely include a beginner band course (at the high school), and either a Piano or Guitar course as well. Eau Claire has a full time Assistant Director, who heads up the steel band program and teaches general music courses.
