Description

Sedgefield Middle School is seeking a Band Director for the 2025–2026 school year. This is a 190-day contract position with an additional stipend. There is also an opportunity to work with the Goose Creek High School “Spirit of Gold” Marching Band, which includes additional stipend compensation.

Sedgefield is located in Goose Creek, South Carolina, just 25 minutes from Charleston and 45 minutes from the beach. The band program has grown significantly in both quality and numbers over the past four years and currently serves over 130 students across grades 6 through 8. The program includes daily band classes, the Sedgefield Symphonic Band (an after-school honor ensemble), and the Sedgefield Jazz Ensemble (after-school).

The program has earned numerous recent accomplishments, including its first appearance at the SCBDA State Concert Festival, a Superior with Distinction rating at SCBDA Concert Performance Assessment, and a Superior rating at its first appearance at the Berkeley County School District Jazz Performance Assessment. Students regularly earn placement in District and Region Honor Bands, and the band consistently receives high ratings at Concert Performance Assessment performing Grade II literature.

Sedgefield has a very supportive administration and staff and works closely with the band staff at Goose Creek High School, including Tyler Holliday, Jeremy Ley, and Josh Bohl.
