CPA Cancelation & Suspension of OPA

Fellow Directors:

It is with great sadness and disappointment that I have to write to you again concerning yet another cancellation of SCBDA events. In light of numerous districts restricting travel and several of our host sites who are now unable to host, our 2020 Concert Performance Assessment has been canceled. This applies to all sites over the next two weeks, Junior and Senior.

In regards to registration fees, directors will have two options:

  1. Receive a credit towards 2021 Concert Performance Assessment fees (can only be used for 2021 CPA registration fees, no other events)
  2. Request a refund of the registration fees paid for the 2020 Concert Performance Assessment

If you would like a refund of your registration fees, you must submit the request in writing (email is fine) to Craig Davis, Concert Committee Chair by June 1, 2020. Any requests not made by June 1, 2020, will automatically roll over as a credit for 2021 CPA registration fees.

As a result of the cancellation of Concert Performance Assessment, the Executive Board has decided that there will be no Outstanding Performance Awards awarded for the 2019-2020 school year. CPA is a major part of the Outstanding Performance Award scoring system and we felt that it would not be in our best interests to alter the points system.

I know that this news coupled with the news from WGI, CWEA, and SCBDA earlier today is a lot to handle. Please know that those of us tasked with making these decisions are equally as disappointed. It is never easy to make these kinds of decisions, especially knowing how much work has gone into the preparations by you and your students.

As always, if there are questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
