Randy Grantham, 2026 HOF Inductee with family: Dottie, Connie, and Will.

Randy Grantham, a 1988 graduate of the University of South Carolina, served for 31 years as the Director or Associate Director of five High School Band Programs, retiring from Rock Hill High School in 2019. He has since stepped out of retirement three times to serve as an interim band director for the Rock Hill School District, the Lancaster School District, and the Fort Mill School District Virtual Academy.

Honors achieved by bands under Mr. Grantham’s direction or associate direction include: Eight South Carolina State Marching Band Championships, Twelve South Carolina Upper/Lower State Marching Band Championships, Two Bands of America Regional Class Marching Band Championships, Thirty-Five Concert Performance Assessment Superior Ratings, Thirty-One SCBDA Outstanding Performance Awards, and Eight National Band Association Certificates of Merit.

Mr. Grantham served the South Carolina Band Directors Association for twenty-five years as a Region Chairman and Allstate Committee member, received the 2017 SCBDA Distinguished Service Award, and received the SCMEA 2024 Debra Hoffman Mentor Award. He holds professional memberships in NAFME, Phi Beta Mu, ASBDA, Phi Mu Alpha, Kappa Kappa Psi and received National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certification in 2005.

Mr. Grantham has served as an adjudicator/clinician in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia. He consults for band programs throughout South Carolina and continues to serve the SCBDA in a range of capacities, including mentoring roles.

Mr. Grantham resides in Rock Hill, South Carolina with his wife Connie, former SCBDA President, and current SCBDA Executive Secretary/Treasurer. Outside of the band world, he works part-time at a local golf course. They have two children, Dottie who lives in Iowa with her husband Andrew and son Lance, and Will who lives in Fort Mill, and works as an equities trader for LPL Financial.
