Newberry College Events for High School Students

The Department of Music at Newberry College is offering several events for high school students this Fall!

Music Leader Day

Tuesday, October 30
9:00am – 2:30pm

Experience a typical day for a college music student including presentations, classes, rehearsals, concerts, and more. Learn about opportunities and scholarships for musicians at Newberry College. Open to current juniors and seniors. Click here to register.

Join the Band for a Day

Saturday, November 03

High school students are invited to join the Scarlet Spirit Marching Band for a home football game and experience firsthand what it is like to be a member of the Scarlet Spirit. Students can email David Santiago, Director of Athletic Bands for more information.

Palmetto Clarinet Festival

Saturday, November 17

Join Newberry faculty and guest artists for masterclasses, recitals, clarinet choirs, and exhibits. Featuring performances and clinics by Robert DiLutis (University of Maryland), Dr. Karl Kolbeck (Wayne State College – Nebraska), Dr. Barry McGinnis (Newberry College), and Zachary Bond (USC Aiken). More information is available by clicking here.

Honor Band/String Orchestra Weekend

Thursday, November 29 – Saturday, December 1

Directors are invited to nominate students to participate in our Honor String Orchestra Weekend with clinician Pamela Hayes and Honor Band Weekend with clinician Dr. Jerry Gatch, Director of Bands at Newberry College.

Band directors can email Dr. Jerry Gatch for a nomination form.

Orchestra directors can email Dr. Patrick Casey for a nomination form.
