The South Carolina Band Directors Association would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family of Hamilton Love. Mr. Love, a former band director at Strom Thurmond High School, passed away on February 3, 2018. Working together with band director Jim Mohorn, Hamilton worked to successfully unite two schools through music during desegregation.

AIKEN – Mr. Hamilton Love Jr, 75, of 1314 President Dr, entered into rest February 3, 2018 at Aiken Regional Medical Center. Mr. Love was a member of Valley Fair Baptist Church and was a former band instructor at Strom Thurmond High School, W.E. Parker High School, & Merriweather Elementary School.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Love, Aiken; one daughter, Loretta (James) Erwin, Plaqumine, LA; two sons, Hamilton Lorenzo (Veronica) Love III, Augusta,GA, & Andre Eugene Love, Aiken; mother, Marie Wright, Hephzibah, GA; 3 Grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.
