In Memoriam: James Crump

James “Jim” Lee Crump, 68, of Summerville, SC, husband of Mary Virginia Coleman Crump, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020.

Memorial Services will be at a later date due to the CDC’s social distancing recommendations. Friends are encouraged to leave condolences for the family through the Parks Funeral Home website. Memorials in Jim’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The Village of Summerville, American Heart Association, or Agape Hospice.

Jim was born May 31, 1951, in Riverside, CA, the son of James Edwards and Jackie Anderson Crump. He was a Band Director before working as a Computer Systems Analyst. He cherished his time spent with family and loved writing and listening to music. He loved to surprise his wife with presents regularly.

In addition to his wife, Mary Coleman Crump, Jim leaves behind his daughters, Lauren (Jayson) Bocook of Columbia, SC, and Kelsey Crump of Aiken, SC;  granddaughter, Julia Bocook; sister, Susan Crump Banks of Myrtle Beach, SC; brother, Scott (Donna) Crump of Colorado Springs, CO; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, James E. Crump and “Jackie” Anderson Crump.

Jim Crump was the band director at Summerville High School. He was a long time assistant to Gus Moody and then lead the program in 1987-88.
