| Showcase your band and give your students a positive
experience by participating in the Olde English Festival of Bands. This annual competition
highlights the most prestigious marching bands from North and South Carolina and rewards
those bands which work hard to produce a top-notch performance. BAND CLASSIFICATION

JUDGING Judges for the Olde English Festival of Bands are selected from some of the finest music educators in the Southeast. Judging will be caption style with three judges using the following breakdown for the final score:

CONTEST FORMATThe Olde English Festival of Bands will use a Prelims/Finals format. All bands will participate in the preliminary competition by classification. Each class champion (4) plus the next (4) highest scores (and ties) will make up the finals participants for a total of (8) bands. There will be no class distinction in the finals competition. The order of performance for finalist will be determined by two draws. The lowest five scores from the finalists (regardless of class) will draw first and will be followed by the 5 highest scores AWARDSTrophies will be awarded to all bands earning overall superior or excellent ratings. The top three bands in each class will receive trophies for 1st, 2nd or 3rd place. Additionally, 1st and 2nd place trophies will be awarded for music, drum major, drum line, and colorguard captions in each class. Finalist participation awards will be presented to all except the first three places in finals. The top three scoring bands will receive placement trophies |
REGISTRATION INFORMATION To insure that you obtain a preferred performance position please complete the registration form and mail, along with a $50.00 application fee as soon as possible. Preferences for performance times within each class will be determined by the order in which completed registration forms are received. Deadline for registration is Friday, September 22nd. Only the first 16 bands will be accepted!
MISCELLANEOUS Directors of registered bands will receive a complete packet including scheduled performance times, rule, regulations, and maps as well as information about the surrounding area. Passes for chaperones (1 per 10 band students) will be mailed with your packet before the festival. Bus and equipment truck drivers will also receive complimentary passes. An assortment of booths will be set up providing fast foods, drinks, and souvenirs. |
