S., and Mrs. Jenny Elliott Director of Human Resource Services / Personel Director School Districtt of Oconee County: ehughes@oconee.k12.sc.us, and jelliott@oconee.k12.sc.us.
I have been offered the Assistant Principal's Job at a school in another school district. Thanks again for your assistance.
Mr. Terry L. Manigault
Current Band Director at Walhalla H. S.
Home # - 1-864-306-0082
Cell # 1-864-630-7173
The program is in much better shape than what I received. Mrs. Gena Cain the middle school director and I have worded very hard. We are still trying to encourage students to participate in the marching band. We will complete band camp on Friday of this week. The Marching Band show is a Western Celebration - The Music includes FanFare for the Common Man, and Applachain Spring - Episode One arr. by Jay Dawson. The Magnificent 7 arr. by Brian Scott, Wild West Celebration - arr. by Rob Grice & Jason Smith "includes Rodeo by Aaron Copleand, and Applachain Spring Finale arranged by Jay Dawson. We have learned the opener to the show. I have drawn the drill using Pyware 3-D Java and added some things to the music arrangements. I know there are those who would prefer to select their own show, however since I was only notified officially this week, it has put me in a difficult situation. My High school Marching band assistant Mrs. Rhonda Miller will be able to teach the drill / show. Of course you will always be able to contact me.
Otherwise these are the classes taught:
1. One Concert Band - approximately 50 students registered for the class each semester.
2. One Jazz Band - approximately 17 students signed up for the class all year 3. 2 Beginner Bands "1 Class with approximately 38 students, the other class with approximately 12 students". Both classes are year long. Although we start students in the Walhalla Middle school band program 6-8 grades, we offer this to those students interested in learning to play an instrument for the first time, or who want to play a second instrument.
4. 1 Dance Guard Class - 7 students 1st semester Other students could not get into the class due to scheduling 5. One Winter Guard Class - 5 students taught during 2nd Semester. "This will change by the end of the 1st semester to approximately 12 students.
6. 1 music appreciation class "second semester" approximately 10 students 7. 1 supervised study "first or second semester. Excellent opportunity to recurit, get help, and use as another planning period.
The are approximately 110 band students registered for the classes - not counting guard, music appreciation, or supervised study.
Walhalla H. S. uses the A-B schedule so students are in class every-other day for 90 minutes. There is also the Freshman Academy "9th Graders" who have classes 50 minutes each day.
The band moved into our new bandroom approximately 4 years ago. It is attached to the auditorium so you will not have to transport your equipment very far. The room is equipped with the a lot of technology and instruments including a new grand marimba, xylophone, Chimes, Vibraphone, baritone sax, oboes, bassoon, bass clarinet, ...etc. There is a very supportive band booster club in place to raise funds for various projects. The parents are planning to build a new storage building to be located on our practice field -parking lot for storage and observation tower.
Thanks again for your assistance.

Band Director needed at Hunter-Kinard-Tyler Middle/High School located in Norway, S. C. Orangeburg District #4. There are approximately 55 students signed up for marching band next year. The program has been down but is making a comeback. The principal and District is extremely supportive. 70 new band uniforms have been ordered for next year due to arrive in August. This program has grown this year and has even greater growth potential for anyone interested in investing a few years. Please contact Principal Specialist Mr. Titus Duren at 803-263-4832. As this is an unsatisfactory school (at present) it is a good paying district and doesn't hold retirees to the $50,000.00/yr. cap.
