Bill YoungBill Young, is director of the Walterboro High School Band of Blue and coordinator of the instrumental music program for the Walterboro schools. He is a native of Allendale, SC and is in his twenty-eighth year with the Walterboro Band Program. He received his B.A. degree in education from the University of South Carolina and his Master of Education degree in school administration and supervision from the Citadel.

The "Band of Blue" under the direction of Bill Young has won the South Carolina State Marching Band Championships in 1982, 1986, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1995 and 1997. The "Band of Blue" has performed for one presidential inaugural and for the past four gubernatorial inaugurals.  In 1994, The Band of Blue marched in the 105th Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California and most recently The Band of Blue was featured in the 74th Macy*s 2000 Thanksgiving Day Parade. The band program has had the same director for the past 28 years. Mr. Young is past president of the South Carolina Band Directors Association. His professional affiliations include Music Educators National Conference, Phi Beta Mu Honorary Band Masters Fraternity, South Carolina Music Educators Association and the South Carolina Band directors Association.  

Mr. Young currently serves on the Walterboro City Council, an office he has held since 1989. Mr. Young is married to former Janice Morris of Round O.  Mr. Young has two children, Margaret, 21, a senior at Florida State University and Bill, 19, a junior at The University of South Carolina.


TOM FINIGANTom Finigan, a native of Walterboro, SC is in his fifteenth  year with the Walterboro Band Program. He holds the Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of South Carolina and the Master of Education degree in school administration and supervision from the Citadel. His professional affiliations include Music Educators National Conference, National Band Association, Phi Beta Mu Honorary Band Masters Fraternity, Kappa Kappa Psi, Kappa Delta Epsilon, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, South Carolina Music Educators Association and the South Carolina Band directors Association. Mr. Finigan recently was elected President-Elect of the South Carolina Band Directors Association.  Mr. Finigan recently served as the SCBDA State Marching Committee Chairman for the past eight years.   Mr. Finigan is a former member and student of the Walterboro Band program. Mr. Finigan is active as an adjudicator and visual designer, having written for many fine area bands. Mr. Finigan is married to the former Lorraine Cauley of Columbia. They have a son, Thomas who is five.  The Finigan's are expecting another son due in late October.


CATHY MESHACHCathy Meshach, a native of Lugoff, SC is in her eighteenth year with the Walterboro Band Program. She holds the Bachelor of Arts degree from Newberry College. Mrs. Meshach is a member of Music Educators National Conference, South Carolina Music Educators Association and the South Carolina Band Directors Association. In addition to teaching beginning band at Colleton Middle School, Mrs. Meshach is the Color Guard coordinator for the Walterboro Band Program. The guard performs at all football games, band contests and in the winter guard circuit. Mrs. Meshach has also served SCBDA as a member of the Solo and Ensemble committee. The Meshach’s have a daughter, Jennifer Grace, who is six.


JOE MESHACHJoe Meshach, a native of Blairstown, NJ is in his tenth year with the Walterboro Band Program. Prior to his coming to Walterboro, Mr. Meshach was the Director of Bands at  Barnwell High School for seven years. He holds the Bachelor of Music Education degree from Newberry College. Mr. Meshach is a member of Music Educators National Conference, South Carolina Music Educators Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and the South Carolina Band Directors Association. Mr. Meshach recently was appointed as the All-State Chairman for SCBDA.  He has served SCBDA as a member of both the Marching and All-State Band committees. He also served as the Chairman for the Southern Region, now Region 4, for SCBDA for four years.  Mr. Meshach is the Director of Music for the Bethel Presbyterian Church in Walterboro.
