ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE HALL OF FAME

  • Must be, or have been, an active member of the SCBDA.
  • Must be, or have been, employed by a school or college in South Carolina for a minimum of 15 years.
  • Must have demonstrated effectiveness in teaching young people through band music, and the ability to inspire positive attitudes among students, the school, the community, and members of the SCBDA.
  • Must have developed and maintained an effective, balanced (Marching and Concert) program in music education.
  • Must have demonstrated interest in and application of educational innovations.
  • Must have demonstrated a concern for music education by active involvement in local, district, state, regional or professional organizations.
  • Must have served in a leadership role through committees or the Executive Board of the SCBDA and be held in the highest regard by the membership.
  • This award may be presented to active or retired members and it may be awarded posthumously by the Executive Board of the SCBDA during the All-State Band weekend.

METHOD OF NOMINATION

Any person who has been a member of the SCBDA for 10 years may nominate a person(s) deemed worthy of this special recognition for contribution to instrumental music education in South Carolina. Complete the official nomination form, and attach your letter of recommendation setting forth the nominee's qualifications in relation to the above stated points of eligibility, together with 2 additional letters of recommendation. All letters of recommendation must be sent attached to a single nomination form. The nomination form and letters of recommendation should be sent to the President of the SCBDA.
